Elder Class
Miss Mossman and Mrs Bradshaw
Welcome to Year 4 Elder! This page will give you an insight into the exciting learning that happens in our class.
This year, we have started using Times Tables Rock stars to help us learn our times tables. You can use Times Tables Rock stars at home using the website: https://ttrockstars.com/
Each week, we have a Times Tables test. Don't forget to check your homework book to remind you which times tables you need to practise. We also use the following link to practise our times tables and to complete our tests. You can use this to practise at home: https://www.timestables.co.uk/speed-test/
Article 29: "I have the right to an education that develops my personality, respect for others' rights and the environment."
World Book Day
Moorland Discovery Centre
We had a fantastic time on our trip at the Moorland Discovery Centre. During the day, we undertook a river study where we measured the river's depth, width and speed using a variety of methods. We also did a sketch of the river and looked at erosion. The day was full of activities and it was brilliant being outdoors in the Peak District!
Children's Rights
The United Nations thinks the rights of a child are very important and so do we! As part of our home learning, we thought about the rights we enjoy.
Spring Term
How can small actions eventually change the world?
This term, we will be answering our Geography based question 'How can small actions eventually change the world?' We will be exploring this question through a range of subjects including: Geography, Art, P4C, Computing, Science and English.
To begin our topic, our Christmas home learning project was to think about the impacts of plastic on our world. See some of our fantastic projects below.
Autumn Term
What makes a great story?
This term, we will be answering our History based question 'What makes a great story?' We will be exploring this question through a range of subjects including: History, Art, Computing and English.
House Competitions
Throughout this year, we will be taking part in intra-house competitions that the House Captains have organised. Our first competition of the year was a team building exercise, we had a lot of fun and all worked well in our teams!
Computing
This term, we have been creating a stop motion animation about the Battle of Bosworth. We then presented these to the rest of the class. This has helped us to develop our history knowledge and answer the question 'What makes a great story?'
Science
This week in Science lessons, we have been exploring electricity and circuits. We managed to create a circuit and light up a bulb, whilst understanding the science behind how this happened.
