Garden Adventures: Update

We have now started to clear and prepare the garden area. The Eco-Committee would like to say a huge thank you to those parents and grandparents who have volunteered to help us with this. It is really appreciated and will hopefully mean the garden is ready for the children to use very soon. The garden will enable children to have first hand experiences and practically explore things such as trees, plants, flowers, growing and habitats.

Charity Donations

Thank you to all of those families that responded to our request for ideas about a charity that you would like the school to link with in order to set up regular donations of clothes and unwanted items. The Eco-Committee decided that we should go with the charity that had been identified by the most number of families. The charity chosen is: Bluebell Wood http://www.bluebellwood.org/

We are currently in the process of setting up dates for the collections of donations in the summer term. Please keep your eye out for the posters around school. The Eco-Committee will make further announcements once this has been arranged.

Staff at Bluebell Wood Children's Hospice have asked that we relay to all families and the school that they are very grateful for being considered and appreciate what the school is working towards doing.

Competition Winners

Before Easter the Eco-Committee ran a competition to find a new Mascot to represent our schools eco-code and values. After a lot of deliberating we were able to choose our winners.

The winner of the overall mascot was Olivia. A really big well done from the Eco-Committee!

We then decided that we had to choose a second entry to help us to promote recycling at Mosborough. We really liked the way it had a clear and catchy message about recycling. It was decided that we would use this one to promote a positive approach to recycling.

Well done to Gracie for this really great idea!

Gardening and Planting

We are working together with years 1 and 2 to clean up our garden area. We are aiming to set up a gardening club over the coming term with the help of Mrs Whorton. Please see the letter below; we are looking for volunteers to help us to clean up our gardening area over 2 afternoons in May.

Spring  / Summer Priorities

The Eco-Committee is currently working hard to review our school.

We are in the process of completing an Environmental Review of key stage 1 and key stage 2. We have already reviewed the Foundation Stage area and discussed our findings. The review expects us to look for evidence and consider what we are doing well within the following key topics: energy, water, biodiversity, school grounds, healthy living, transport, litter, waste and global citizenship. Once our review is complete we will form an action plan that details how we intend to improve our school.
